Sunrise today..peek at the past

This was the view out my window this AM .
I was up before the sun!!
Yes I know not like me but I have a busy day today!!
I am taking Aunt Dot back to the doctor in the big city.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Yet another place has appeared near where the last horrid cancer was.
Just don't think she can stand another ordeal like that.
Thanks so very much.
Since I have no sewing or such to share will
show another of my family quilts.
This is an applique flower pot.
Threads to match the flowers were used .
Black thread on the pots.
It has been used!
That just makes it all the more special to me.

Here is a close up of the flower pot.

I received this one from my Aunt Alma.
Not sure who made it.
I am almost sure was made by Great Aunt Mary, Grandmother Lola and maybe also Great Grandmother Nora ( who lived to be in her 80's ).
They did a lot of these back in the 30's.
Treasure to me... pure treasure!

I have been MIA from my blog this week. ;-(
Yes very busy!! I can't seem to find the time in my day to do it all as some do!;-)
I have cleaned out a large hall closet and my closet !!Sent things to Thrift and some things passed on to friends. Still have the cedar wardrobe yet to do.
Made room for some of the things I do not want out in my sewing room...yes still trying to keep floor space open !!;-)
Feels good to finally have that out of the way.
Now on to seeing what waits for me under the guest room bed! Ha!!

This has to be ifs or ands about it.
The carpet needs to be installed before Thanksgiving!!!
Besides that we are cooking BD dinner for our DIL this Sat.
Dining room looks like a Goodwill sorting work room !!ha ha!
Lots to do when I get back home today!!
So hope to soon be back to my sleep in til 7Am , get up , blog and sew days soon!!!
We had a frost here this past week so leaves and such are turning!!
More Fall looking now!!!
Wishing all a very enjoyable weekend!!!

  1. I sure can see why that quilt is your treasure. I notice the older I get the more family items are priceless to me. It is beautiful.

  2. I sure can see why that quilt is your treasure. I notice the older I get the more family items are priceless to me. It is beautiful.

  3. Sew much to do. I am sorting and cleaning and organizing also. My spaces were starting to look like my son's rooms when they were teenagers. EEEEEEEK!!!

  4. The quilt is lovely...such a wonderful family heirloom! I love the pattern...I bought a pattern book loaded with beautiful designs from the 30's and 40's...but I've never done an applique...guess I can learn, though. My main reason for learning to quilt was to have lasting treasures to pass down to my family, like your family did for you. I can't think of anything more rewarding than to give or receive something made by someone I love.

You are going to be very busy, but it will get done...a little each day. Don't work too hard...will be praying for Aunt Dot.

    God bless,

  5. What a wonderful quilt and wonderful memories....

Yep....can't seem to fit everything in a day.

  6. So sorry to hear about your aunt. I will definitely keep her in my prayers. That is scary.

Very pretty quilt. It is so nice to have such heirlooms.

  7. love that quilt, slow down this weekend and rest've been way to busy

  8. Aunt Dot and you are in my prayers--

I love that old quilt--wished it was mine!!!! I have some of those old patterns and that is really what I enjoy quilting--do not like all the "artisy" stuff that is all around these days oh well!!! Those closets and under those beds will get done--you are on a mission and you are doing great--keep going girl!!!
    Hugs, Di

  9. Lovely quilt! Yes those chores do need to get done. Holidays are coming quickly.

  10. My thoughts are with Aunt Dot. She has been such a trooper through all this. What a lovely quilt and such a treasured family quilting heritage. Ann :)

  11. That quilt is a treasure for sure. I can see why you love it.

  12. The outside decorations look great. Love that quilt, what a treasure!

  13. Your family quilt is definitely a treasure. How lucky your Aunt chose to hand it down to you.

I understand completely about not having enough time to do everything. I don't know how some are able to keep up with their's and everyone else's blogs, plus sew everyday! I try, but I'm afraid I'm not very successful at it sometimes.

  14. That quilt pattern is FABULOUS! And not a very common one it seems.

Luv hear'in from ya!!
