Okay..Monday ,Monday...

A peek at some fabric I am sewing with today.
Will show more later.
It is a pressie for someone special!

Crown molding is up in guest room!
Or as DH says $@#%!!! crown molding!

He is funny! He became so frustrated at times with the walls and ceiling.
You never know how wonky a wall really is till you go to paint it or put up a straight piece of molding on it!
We should be used to it by now.
Seems every time we go to do something in this 35 yr old brick home it becomes a huge effort!
Oh well I keep telling him nothing is perfect so don't sweat it!!
I love it! Will look great when done!

Well best get back to my 'secret project' if I want it done this week!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Look'n for a 4 leaf clover??
How about a lady bug in the clover!
She is there!
(Hint look towards the top!)

Sit! Join me for some tea on St. Patrick's Day if you will!

A cuppa hot tea with a bit o sweet!

Knock the damp off ya.

We can chat about our ancestors that crossed the water from their home land to begin a new life here in America.

Working hard, finding love and creating a family.
Passing down those pretty Irish Eyes and hair of auburn.

An Irish Blessing:

May God give you...

For every storm a rainbow,

for every tear a smile,

for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial.

For every problem life sends,

a faithful friend to share,

for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer.

To all my "Irish" friends!
After all on today we are all a bit Irish are we not???!!
Hugs!!!

Careful what ya ask for...

Yes indeedy! Cause what ya want could be messy!

This is the old carpet from the guest room.
Putting down new laminate flooring.
So DH begin last Saturday!
Had to move all the stuff out.
Yes stuff all over house including my sewing room!
This room is mostly my closet and TV room now!
Was Mama's bedroom when she was with us.

DH decided this would be the time to paint also instead of later!
So good bye to Mama's pretty floral stencil. She loved her flowers.

Up went a pretty green paint.
This color will be a nice neutral for our antiques and fabrics used in room.
As always camera does not do it true.
It is a small room but bright with so many windows, so can carry a darker color.

In the process the heater fell off wall onto my foot!
Set off some bad stuff but is better today!
DH will resume work this coming weekend.
Has also decided to put up crown molding.
Happy it is all getting done at one time!

In mean time I have been doing the 'clean out' of closet, wardrobe and drawers!
Hope to be better organized as well.
Have two bags for sharing with friends and donating.
Between all this have also been doing dentist appts!

So happy the weather has remained nice!
After this project other inside ones will have to wait as DH will be working outside.
We do need to be working in flower beds(chickweed taking over) and cutting grass..YIKES!
Yes sounds crazy but with our warmer Winter things are on fast forward outside these days!
Found a blooming tulip Wednesday!
Have enjoyed sitting on porch in Mama's rocking chair.
Nice time of year with not too many bugs about..yet!

Now to find the top of dining room table so we can eat on it for St. Patrick's Day!!!!!

A 'ShotGun' for me....

Yes you read that title right!
But my shotgun is red!!
HaHaHa!
DH bought himself another shotgun!
He does not hunt, just shoot targets.
Whatever if it makes him happy!

Well I decided I needed 'one' too...as in if he bought that gun I could buy something as well!!
So after seeing this sweet chair on Gari's blog here...I went to check out the site!
Fell in love with the dark red lil number!
It arrived Saturday morning!
Fast free delivery!!!
Thanks for posting about yours Gari!

"Ruby" is very comfy!
The tractor seat was after all planned to be that way for farmers!
It goes from the PC desk to the sewing machine in a flash!
I know not my normal style but sometimes comfort has to over rule antique country style!

Humm now my 'shotgun budget' still has some left over cash...fabric maybe????!!! hahaha!!

By the by was without internet all day Tuesday! Hughes Net had a satellite go out! So was behind on blog reading!!

Buttons make it POP...

Now that is what DH said when he saw I had added the buttons(finally) to the Irish Pinwheel Runner. Hahaha!

Before without buttons. Laid long ways on chest.
My measurements were off a tad.
An inch or so on each end sticks out.
DH will brush his leg against it going past and it will slide!

So turned this way and I like it!
Done in time for Saturday!
Shoot almost time to work up some Easter things as well!!

Been busy here with 'house' stuff! Messy!
Happy to be working on the next room but hate the mess it makes of the whole house!

Love our weather this week!!!!
Warmer sunshine and flowers all a blooming!!
One of my fav times of year...no heat on or need of AC!
YES!!

Edit to add:
I made this runner up myself with no pattern.
Just trial and error as I cut and sewed doing my own thing.
Thanks for all the nice comment on it and interest!

Finished quilting...

..on the my Irish Pinwheel runner! Yes!

Took a while but I am happy with it.
Not perfect but then I am not a perfect kinda gal anyway!
It will do just fine for me!

The curves give the motion to my pin wheels!
Did hatching on the patchwork ends.

Chose this fabric for the backing. Does go well with the dyed front.

Adding these orange/gold buttons.
Hope to have binding ready to sew down later today or this evening.
Then on the sofa chest it will go! FINISHED!

Tuesday Do'ins

Well now we have a pretty sunny day but on the cool side.
To be back up high 60's tomorrow then in 70's after!
Up and down like a roller coaster.
No wonder poor plants do not have any idea we even had a Winter!
Jonquils have all bloomed out and the hyacinths as well!
None for Easter this year.:-(
Had these on table for Sunday BD meal.

DH decided to get pretty with his cherry pie for Sunday.

Pretty after pic!
He also made a cake for Monday guests!

We had a busy weekend on into Monday.
All company have come and gone!
Was fun having folks in to enjoy their company, good food and laughter! !
Good Times!

I did get in a wee bit of stitching on my redwork snow fellas.

This is #7. Will add all the buttons and such after I get all the stitching finished.

Begin #8. Hope to have 9 finished by weeks end.
Then dig in stash for some red and cream/tan fabric for the pieced blocks.
This fabric is darker than it seems in the pics.

Also managed to get the lace over dyed.
Hope to get this runner finished by weeks end as well!
So have set my goals!
Best get busy!

First is a load of wash , do this bit of ironing and run the vac!

Friday, March 2, 2012

Was out most of yesterday, Thursday, to big city with appts and errands.
So was very tired when I got back home.
No sewing or anything really got done.
Was a sunny and warm day albeit very windy!
But so nice to have such a day in Winter!

Today have more home chores to do for weekend.
Hosting nephew and family Sunday for his birthday Clam Chowder meal. FUN!

Then Monday have some other family coming by on their way home to Delaware from NC.
So must do a tad bit of dusting and such!
This house has to be the dust creator for the whole state of VA!
It can produce it over night!
To stay on top of it I would have to dust every day! Not going to happen!
Have things I prefer to do and other chores besides dusting!! Goodness!

Did get The Irish Pinwheel runner top 'aged' and over dyed Wed.

Hung it up so you can see better.

Love the 'old' look now.
May not be everyone's cup o tea but I am happy with it!

Can see it is darker with age spots;-)

The Thimbleberries fabric I choose for binding goes with it perfectly now.
The greens really look the the same. COOL BEANS!
Thinking I may add some old crochet lace along binding edge.
Must dig that out of closet. Maybe later...after hose dreaded chores!

Well must get too it!!
The day will soon be away from me if I sit here with tempting blogs to look at or get sent to Pinterest!!

Wishing all a good weekend!!!
