Pretty Flowers on a Rainy Day

 Front porch rails play a supporting role to the pretty Clematis growing up on them.
There is a very pretty  dark red which seems to be the less robust one.

 Now the purple Clematis goes wild! So full of blooms !I would love to see them one year go up the roof support sections! Have not bought any hanging basket flowers yet or moved any plants outdoors yet. Maybe by next weekend. Our weather has went from cold to warm to hot to cool again. Wind was whipping a good clip too. So hope things calm down a bit in next week.
We are getting some much needed rain today! Also under Nor'easter chance as well! UGH!

 Meggie wanted some Iris pics. Here are a couple. took more but seems they were blurry!
These are gold ones. Yes gold! So neat mixed with the purple which have done bloomed and gone.

These are some new ones. Just put in ground back here when we were given them temporary. They will be moved later. Have more  iris and other plants to move from Aunt Dot's to here. Just have not been able to do much outside in a long while. So DH will just keep grass cut, do some mulch and try to keep weeds to a minimum for another year. I do hope I will be able to be back outside doing things  in 2013!

We went to the knee replacement work shop my surgeon requires.. WOW! A lot to take in!Was impressed with all the improvements to the surgery and the replacement joint.
I am dreading it yes, but also looking forward to 6mths down the road being able to say ..SO GLAD I DID IT! So much prep though. Appts and buying equipment, rearranging rooms! Getting my helpers lined up for when DH has to go back to work.
We are trying to get our small home ready for the walker and other things we will be dealing with here.
Now if only we could explain what is to happen and what needs doing to fur kitty babes, Marmalade and Cocoa! They have some habits that will have to be adjusted! Such as  jumping into Mom's lap via the legs. Cocoa will have to give up her bird-feeder watching perch on the bed in guestroom! Oh Dear!

Today I am gathering needed threads and buttons in the work basket for some red-work. Have some wool to cut on the GO! for another hand project. 
Will be a couple weeks before I will feel up to doing any but want to be ready! As far as when I will be in sewing room sewing again......no idea. Maybe when I am able to drive myself to PT which could be 4 to 6 weeks in. Something to look forward too!!!

Okay back to my thread sorting and making up kits!

Oh Dear!

New Blogger is here whether I like it or not. Not like they did not give me plenty of warning. Knew it was coming. Even offered me a chance to check it out! Did I? NO!
Change. 
It is inevitable. Some times change is good. Sometimes not so much. I do think though that learning new things is good for us! Keeps us on our toes and maybe will keep this old brain from becoming idle!
So will try to take it all in an figure things out before too long!
Short post today.
Crossing fingers we get some rain later today and over night.
So dry here.
Off to go pick some Iris for my empty vases.
Also need to keep working on the organizing the house for the soon to be handicap gal...me!

Oh My! Friday already....

Goodness!
Where does time go?
Where do the days go?
Seems they go by so fast they are a blur!
I have been busy but still more to do!


Today working a bit in sewing room.
Seems a lot of 'stuff' got deposited in here from the guestroom redo project!
It either has to go back or be absorbed into this small room!
I want to get my pie safes and fabric cabinets moved around in here before surgery.
Put main sewing table back where it was originally.
Make it easier to maneuver in here later on.
Yes I know I will not be sewing at machine and such the week after knee replacement!!
It will at least be ready for when I can!
This is really just some more tweaking to the room I planned on anyway.
It has been trail and error since we did this room in fall of 2010.


Not sure if I shared this with you or not.
Anyway here is my hand sewing basket.
It is wood that looks like cherry or maybe walnut.

Not sure where I got it. Mind rot!
Either a pick up at a sale, thrift or maybe was in MIL's boxes.
At any rate I decided it must be for sewing as it had felt in bottom.
Was not very clean so took out and added a piece of wool.


I just laid some stuff in it for pic.
Putting in needles , scissors, etc. and things to use for hand work.
I am also pulling together some things for the To Do Basket.
Need a wool project, stitchery project and some other smallish projects.
Think best to have a variety of ones to pick and choose from.
I also have a couple projects I do want to finish before surgery.
A table topper, bag and a runner.
One project with the blue/brown bundle to the left up there in pic 2.

We turned cold again!
Man I mean cold! Not just cool.
We had temps in early AM's of 29/30!
This has slowed down some of the flower blooming I think.
Suppose to go back to some what normal temps this coming week.
Still have oodles of pollen blowing around.
So not able to stay out in it too long without getting headache or itchy eyes.
I had to use drops in my eyes both days I was out for appts.
This too shall pass!!

Was cool enough I made a pot of Chicken and Dumplings yesterday.
Not the biscuit kind.
I roll out the dough and cut my own noodles like my Mama taught me!
No recipe or measurements.. just put in what looks right and go!
So warm and comforting!
Not good to have as a regular diet but once in a while is fine!
I think so anyway! hahaha!
What was it that Julia Child used to say.."all things in moderation" or something like that!

We can breath here now as we DID FINALLY get taxes done!
Glad to have that load off our minds!

I used the paper egg doilies as place cards!;-)

Used Great Grandmother Belle's plates.

I used some white chair covers on the folding chairs .
Should have pressed them!

Here is table getting ready for sit down. The pink is our prayer for the meal.
Yes all the pretty stuff comes off to make room for food!;-)

This was one dessert we enjoyed.
Sis-in -law made this from a recipe in this month's Southern Living Magazine.
We also had DH's Coconut Pie and nephew brought Banana Pudding Cheese Cake.
Shall we say STUFFED!!

They enjoyed the little Easter Baskets!
Tried to get a pic of grand dog Beamer but he was in constant motion!! haha!
Was a lovely day spent with loved ones!

Picked these Iris Saturday. A pale yellow.
Waiting on the rest to bloom soon!

Today wind was blowing hard but warm and dry!
Had two loads of wash dry in less time then it took to wash them!
I have some finish up appts with dentist this week.
That will mess up a couple days being able to get more stuff done around here.
I am going to plug on though!!

Busy! Busy!

Really busy around here these days!
Have lots to do for Easter Sunday.
Had labs yesterday so off I went full circle!
From there to shop and do some errands and back home! Long day!
So today is some cleaning and preparing DH one of his fav meals for his BD supper tonight.
Not too stressful, simple meal. Linguine with white clam sauce. Doing a simple romaine salad.
I cheated and bought him a Cheesecake Factory Red Velvet Cake for dessert! ;-)


Yes Easter is upon us! I have my Hare fella sitting on the hearth. I made these to sell way back when craft shows were a good way to earn extra cash. My own pattern and design.


He sits with the old tattered quilt eggs in an old Easter Basket.


Here are the silly bunnies on the mantle! Enjoying their time out of hiding! ;-)
They will be packed away soon after Sunday!

The framed cross stitched egg is a gift from my sweet niece !
You really can't tell but I over-dyed the DMC so not bright.
She has been busy! Has one made for another friend as well.

May not be much posting here over rest of week!
Seems to take me forever to do stuff these days!
So will be doing my maid chores before the cook arrives for hers! hahaha!
Oh yeah the washing and ironing lady has to make appearance as well!
Oh the joys of being a split personality!!

On another note it looks like my right knee replacement will happen in May instead of June!
So have things I need to prepared for and get set up for when I am down.
One reason DH was put on DIY fast track for the guestroom/my recovery room redo!
Will have home therapy for 3 weeks then 3dys week for 9weeks!

I so hope you all will hang around even if I am not able to post for a while.
Hoping all goes well with surgery and I can made do with the left knee for a while longer!
Been hard having to deal with bad knees and the advanced Psoriatic Arthritis along with all my other issues!
Love to go and do and that has not been possible as much as I would have liked!
Sometimes have not even been able to use presser foot on my sewing machines!
YIKES! Can't have that!

Okay best get to it with my present high energy level!!!
It can deplete quickly!;-)

Wisteria Abundance!

We went to the family country cemetery Sunday to put out the Easter Spring flowers.
This is what greeted us! Wisteria all up in the back trees!

Just look at all the pretty purple Wisteria up in those trees!
Have never seen it this fully bloomed out and beautiful!

Was a beautiful backdrop for a final resting place!

DH did get his DIY on guestroom pretty much done! YES!
Has only to paint the closet doors and hang them back up.
Will get more pics when it is all together better.
For now must get house back in order and clean for Easter Sunday!



DH had a busy weekend for sure!
Had to get trimming done and grass cut after some rain and before more!
His BD is this Wednesday so will have to make him a very extra yummy birthday supper!

Okay back to work !
So much to do so little time as the say'n goes!!!

Eggs that sparkle...

Here are some Easter Eggs that sparkle!
Yes I can get girly from time to time!
Faberge has nothing on me! ;-)


So gathered up some 'Springish' fabrics, cutter , rule and small mat.
Also had some Mod Podge glue along with $ Tree plastic eggs.
I bought 3 large treat eggs and 2 bags of 6 medium size eggs.


I cut my first strips too wide so had to redo them.
Best for me was 3/4 to 1/2 inch strips.
Brushed on MP with foam brush.
Also found strips work best top to bottom more than around the egg.
Though I think a couple neat trims would look cool wrapped around the middles.
I was just over them by this point! ;-)
Messy business I tell ya!
Plus at first I had thought to paper mache them with pretty napkins..arrrghh, just saying!
So decided fabric was a more workable medium for me!


Had to add some shine to them as this was matte MP.
So my big jar of fine glass glitter came out to play.
Must add this before they are dry, nice and tacky...oh my!
Yes I bet some will think my eggs tacky... hahaha!

Takes a while to dry!
DH also commented on the scent(stink) the MP and fabric was putting out!
He did find them very pretty though!
Once dry they no longer smell!

I added some dried moss to Aunt Dot's petit four stand.
Put the stand on the Feedsack Bunnies runner on sofa chest for now.
Will move to dining table( if I can ever find it's top again ) as Easter Sunday centerpiece.
Saw the cats eying them a bit ago so may have to move soon!!

This Friday we begin laying the new flooring in guest room at long last!
All the crown molding is in, painted and finished. Looks lovely!
My darling DH rocks!

Hope by Sunday evening can begin moving things back in and unload the rest of the house!
Have Easter Sunday guests coming !!
Besides beginning to think we are living in a storage facility!!
I do think this mess is why I like to have a nice rest period between home projects!!!!
Need to remind myself of this when I get that 'need to get busy on the master bed and bath redo' feeling!!!

These were for my niece's birthday gift!

She had a pile of goodies! Toile bag full!
The pretty boxes are also Paris theme and had goodies inside.
Gift in a gift sort of thing!
Plus Unc made her a Pumpkin Roll too!
She was all set!

Had to include this pic of silly cutie Marmalade helping me with the birthday gifts! hahahaha!

Well another busy week is past.
DH has not been able to work on guestroom.
Hope to get more done this Sunday but will see.
Now if we could win the lotto and he could retire we could get lots more done!;-)
