Progress

Yes there is some progress being made out here in the cotton field!!
I am no longer walking with a cane! Have only 4 more PT appointments then will be done.
Course I still have the exercise routine I must continue at home.
Still have some swelling which makes bending more difficult but this will pass, so all the med folks say.
Deal with some pain but is manageable with meds.
Least I can do more.YES!!
Speaking of which...have emptied all those 14 sewing studio totes!!

So the room is beginning to look more like it should once more!
Not the horrid mess it was!
Still tweaking  as I go along to make the room work better.

My next big plan is to move this PC out of here and put my old treadle in it's place.
It is a big plan because some one has to go under house to move the cable and it will not be me!
PC will go to guest room.

We bought a nice heavy duty steel shelving unit  for closet.
It holds all my machines and heavy mags, ironing boards, some bolts of fabric plus a lot more.
No need to have to go in closet that often.

Most all of my fabric is now out in the room easy for me to see and get too.
My first sewing project is a new valance for the windows.
Have a pretty floral with my fav reds!
So need DH to hang the pretty rod for that also a matching rod for my design wall which will go to the right of the closet doors in pic below.
Still want to finish going through drawers doing a clean out.
Better way to sort my 'stuff' so easier to find what I want when I want it, if that is possible!
Don't snicker now....miracles do happen ya know! ;-)

This is the main sewing table where my Bernina will live.
Works out great in this spot.

That one tote ya see there is what  I have decided will donate to local thrift!
Have my patterns yet to go through.
Plan to list some on Ebay, Etsy or maybe do a yard sale blog.
Hummm... may need to have a giveaway too!!
A big thanks for hanging with me though all the damage mess and my knee replacment!!
I appreciate you all so much!
Still have other things to put away or hang up on wall but all in all it is pretty much done.
This room was a total mess!
So now all new sub floor , new flooring, new dry wall in closet and repainted.
I sure hope this is the last major redo in the room for a goodly bit!!!

Not much to report here. Still improving, so PT says, just slowly. I go to PT 3 days a week. Not much else happening, sort of boring really! I do the drive into town to PT then Kim will drive me home! Hard to stay positive but I am trying!
Here is our 10 day forecast! YIKES! Hope power stays on!! May have to pawn my fabric stash to pay AC bill!;-)

Still here...

Yes I am still hanging around!
My knee replacement surgery  on May 22 went well.
Surgeon was well pleased with my healing at the 2 week check up.
He removed 40 staples that day.
Last Friday was my last day of in home PT.

Monday, yesterday, I begin PT with a practice in town. Oh Boy!
Been a struggle dealing with some pain, fatigue and such but moving forward at a good clip!
Still have a ways to go but just doing it day by day.
No longer on a walker but use cane as needed!
I am doing everything I am told to do so I can get back all my mobility as soon as possible!
They say 6mths so I am beginning to think they may be right... hahaha!

DH has been a wonderful care giver. Between DH and my sweet niece I have had great care.
Son and friends have helped out when they could as well.
So no complaints in that area!

Water damage repairs also finished up last Friday!! Yes!
Had some issues with some stuff but got it worked out.
House is still in disarray though!
DH and son placed the sewing studio furniture back in where I wanted it.
As for all the rest packed up in totes/boxes...they are stacked up and will remain so till I can set the room up again!
Sewing studio is all freshly painted and new flooring. Had to replace sub-flooring as well.

Living room and dining room we hope to have back to normal in a week or so.
They also had to do some painting in entry and living room.
Had new drywall , sub-floor and then new flooring in entry and coat closet.
Last was the carpet which padding was replaced then carpet was re stretched and cleaned.
Glad to have all that behind us!
Ready for life to sort of get back to our kind of normal around here!!

Thanks so much for thinking of me with your thoughts and prayers!
Hugs,
Lola

Leak Damage and Blog Break

Update: All is good to go! Surgery is on schedule for tomorrow, Tuesday, May 22, at 12:30. Have to be at hospital at 10:30 AM. Repairs at home will resume in a weeks time.
I am hoping to be home by Friday!
Ready to get  surgery and the rest all behind me!!!!
Thanks for all the wonderful wishes  and prayers!!
I appreciate you all!!
Hugs,
Lola

This is the entry and the closet. Pipe is in closet wall. Main water pipe from the pump to the house.
They took up carpet padding and the sub flooring . Wall in closet will go also. Pulled out insulation in walls and under house that was soaked.

Here is some of the drying blowers and dehumidifiers they set up.
Here are the Serv Pro workers tearing out sewing studio floor including closet area. So almost half went that day. All will be ripped out this week. Contractor and crew will be here Thursday to begin.
This too went down to the plywood.

Don't know if you can see how much the wall is bowed out or not. That paneling soaked up a lot of water.

They set up more equipment in sewing studio.
Did right away took out some things but not all at that time.
Has all dried now. ServPro came got the equipment. Now all the repairs, replacements and cleaning left up to the repair contractor.

All my sewing studio and part of the living room is now hiding in this POD!
Spent Mother's Day with DH and son packing it all up!

No way will all be done by May 22nd! I am just going to 'let it go'...as nada worrying will do for me. One day at a time is all we can do.

Have had a possible problem develop that may move surgery date out further. Will know more at my GP Dr. appt tomorrow!
Ok now what is that saying about what does not kill ya will make ya stronger????? Just call me Mrs. Hulk!!!
I am going to take a blog break for a few weeks now. Just too much going on and none of it is fun stuff!
Hope to be able to at least read  some blogs after surgery!
So take care everyone!
Thanks for all the kudos!!
Hugs,
Lola

melt down

Yes....I had a melt down on Sunday morning! We had a flood in the house! A pipe in the entry way closet decided to leak...big time! MESS! Water soaked flooring, carpet soaked through to sub flooring , walls soaked though! Called insurance they had ServPro out here Monday. Tore up my house! Yes all this after been working like mad to get ready for home care after knee replacment surgery coming up here on 22nd! So melt down may have been an understatement!

Ripped up carpet, took out sub flooring and pad. All entry way and closet wood laminate floors gone, cut out dry wall in closet. Sewing studio backs up to that wall ! Yes tore up my new flooring and subfloor. Wall soaked as well! Had to move stuff out, not in the best fashion!

Have these huge dehumidifiers and heat blowers in both rooms, tubes and wires going up the hall to bathroom! Temp in living room yesterday was 87!

Just a mess! No idea how things will work out for repairing and my surgery! Still aways from dry with the readings they took yesterday and today. Did estimate on repairs work up today to send to insurance. Fella says  he will get right too it as soon as he gets go ahead from ServPro. Has to order flooring and such. If wall has to be replaced in studio will have to be paneling to match. Though that is a nice heavy one you do not see anymore. We just painted it!
He also said a storage pod will be delivered to store stuff in for the repairs to be made. So we went and bought some totes so I can pack up some of my things.
I am on my bitty Inspire lap top. As soon as I can get to PC in sewing studio will try to post some pics.

Off to very early appt at hospital in the morning for more tests! ugh! They are going to wear me out before they ever cut on me!

Sewing Machine Covers

This is one of my machine covers. Keeps the dust off the machine and protects it too.
If you do not have one and may have been thinking of making one check out Liz's post on her blog... Moments .
Liz is hosting a Sewing Room Sew Along and this month it is machine covers.
She has posted a lot of links to other blogs or sites that share how they made theirs.
Lots on inspiration!

I got crowned today.. twice! Yes the perm crowns came in finally!  Now one more appliance and procedure then my mouth  makeover ( what I call it)will be completed! I like my dentist but still hate going to the dentist! hahaha!

I gave in and put AC on. Hate too but was too stuffy in here when I got back home today!
Big fat cat Marmalade loves it! Crazy kitty gal!
I am hoping it is a temporary thing and can soon go back to lower temperatures again.

Another day off to big city for me tomorrow. Have my pre-op appt with my GP.
I also have to go by hospital Pharmacy to buy a kit.
It has some things in it to help me do 'normal' things after surgery.
I also need to buy some twin size sheets.
So will need a nap when I get back home !;-)

Yesterday...

Guestroom closet doors do not like me! They pinched me!
Hurt like a “B” too, had to put ice on it!
I really thought there would be this huge bruise or place be swollen today.
Nothing there but a ‘red line’ spot.
So now I need to vac and wash the doors.
DH will try to paint the outside after I do that chore!
What a way to begin the day!

I am a dork! My fabric had been sliding a bit on the sewing machine!
I was like… “what is wrong with the feet!”
Hard to keep straight seam!
Was leaning around machine to get something an saw I had not changed the foot pressure setting from last job!
DUH!!!!!!!!

Next thought I had batting out to use for the projects using this bundle of fabby but NOOO!
Was wrong kind so had to move stuff I have 'temporarily" piled in front of closet doors and stuff back out of closet to get into the far right corner !
“Hey Fusi-Boo…I see you!”
Yes I stuck the tube there out of the way as I did not NEED it now!
I either can no longer read or think or both!
No really was my whirlwind ways of straightening up things!
Just trying to get stuff out of way!

Fabric line by Marcus called French Dress.
Turquoises  and dark browns.

So I am hoping today goes as I have it planned.
If anything comes up I am crossing fingers it is good stuff and not aggravating!!

Have my thread  on machine and ready to finish up a project!
Here is a peek!
It is a table topper for my niece D to use in her bathroom she is redoing in these colors. D bought this bundle at the Quilt Show back in Feb!

So very cloudy here today not much breeze either!
So reckon wash will have to go in dryer! UGH!
Chance of storm later this afternoon.
Can you believe it is calling for 85F on Thursday and 94F on Friday!!!!!
NOOOO!

Well reckon I better get too it.
Stuff not gonna get done by its self!
I know this because I have tested this theory before! ;-)
