My Tea Tuesday With Santa

Please come join me for a Christmas Tea today!
Take your spot on the sofa.

Cute Santa Teapot will be pouring our tea today!

He is resting on a silver snowflake trivet.

This is a sweet pic of my MIL , Miss Nellie hugging Santa!

I set out our tea today on the old cedar chest on a pretty festive quilted runner I made.

I used these fun square plates my niece gave me one year as chargers.

Placed these cute Santa plates on top of the square ones.
A Christmas plaid napkin in a cute teapot ring with silver fork.
A small pillow with Santa stitched on it red.
Our tea cup is cream ware with our silver spoon resting on it's saucer.

Our JOY is full of treats!
Using the green Homestead China sugar and creamer.

The left place setting is almost the same as other.
The small pillow says Believe in red thread.
On each plate is a Dove Bliss Chocolate in gold.
The candles are candy cane ones.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit with me today!
I have loved having you visit!

Please go by our Hostess Kim's blog Shabby, Pink and Pretty for more folk's Tuesday Tea posts.
I wish to thank Kim so much for hosting our Tuesday Tea posts for so long.
This will be her last Tuesday Tea post so don't miss it.
I am sure she will be sharing one of her lovely china teapots.

I will still share a Tuesday Tea post once in a while here.
So come when you will!!!;-)

Yes I did it...

This Granny Santy figured out how to grant the wish of one wee grand son for me to make him a snake. Yes a snake! So some drawing ,cutting, stitching, stuffing and one bag of navy beans later it is done!

When he is tired of the snake he can have beans for supper... haha!
Sorry just some Granny Santy humor here!

When the TN grands were here they all decided Granny could make 'anything'.. yeah right.
Anyway some picked out fabric along with what they would like made with it.
Others just threw out some handmade wishes.
So far I not only have the snake done but a wallet , a crayon roll and a tool roll up.
Now working on a baby doll quilt for Amelia from fabric she loved to play with that was in a basket.
I am so upset I did not get a pic of her doing that here on the sewing room floor!
Also more crayon roll ups to do and a few other things!!
So the Granny Santy Workshop is still in full swing!

Here is a blue work Snow Fella Quilt I made a few years ago.
He normally sticks around till maybe late February...;-)

Okay back to work!!
Pillowcase making factory in session here!!
Hope every one is enjoying the days up till Dec 25th!

Reason For The Season

In the 1982 fire at Coleman's Nursery amazingly the nativity was undamaged!
It had it's own wooden shed outside, first thing you saw.
When you saw the lights on it lit you knew Coleman's was ready for Christmas visitors.

It is not part of the Coleman Collection now.
Because the nativity scene can not be displayed on public property.
So Monumental United Methodist Church bought it and lovingly refurbished the figures .
Had a special manger scene built to display it in the small chapel.

The camel is so sweet looking and he moves his head.

It amazes me that so many other Christmas decorations can be displayed in public/government places but yet this has to be a block away tucked inside a small chapel!

This concludes my sharing of the Coleman Collection.
Hope you enjoyed seeing it!! ;-)

The Elves of Winter Wonderland

The wee folk of Winter Wonderland all stay very busy!
They each have jobs to do.

This is the Santa Post Office.
As you can see this wee fella is over come with loads of mail!

Here is a wee crew making toys.

This is the bakery and those wee folks were really busy!

Can't forget the candy making shop...yummmy!!

Here we have others decorating the trees.

Also have the wee elves that care for all the Winter Wonderland animals.
I reckon if the salmon are not running canned will do...;-)

The pic in my header is also from the display , not mine...;-)

A Winter Wonderland Display

This is the old 1846 Courthouse in Portsmouth, Virginia.
It now houses the Coleman's Nursery Collection of Winter Wonderland .
We used to take our kids to this display every year at the old nursery.
We did hot chocolate, bought each an ornie and then went to the Hickory Farms booth for a beef stick.
Such sweet memories as the kids always got a pic made with Santa.
In 1982 there was a horrific fire at Coleman's. Set by a vandal!
Money was raised to save what was possible from the Winter Wonderland display .
When the owners finally retired and closed, the Portsmouth Museum's Foundation purchased all the figures.
The charming scenes are now on display every year in the old Courthouse, so the tradition can continue for Portsmouth.
When the grands were here we went to see it.
I will share our visit in several posts.

Here is Amelia lost in this wonderful winter scene.

Benji all excited over the moving snowmen!
He also wanted some of the coins from the wishing well! Ha!Ha! NO!!!

Yes here we have penguins!!
Pat's favorite !!

So I had to be sure to take these pics and post Pat!!!
Some moved too!
Just looks so chilly to me.. ha ha!!
Was a real treat for me to see them again but sort of bittersweet too.
Here I was with K and her kids carrying on a tradition.
A very nice thing to do with your wee ones during the holidays.
I am betting there are some cool things around your area to do as a family as well.

Tea Tuesday Christmas..

I do have holiday teapots . I will not be showing them all though.
I did not unpack any storage totes this year so will just be a couple I will share.

Yes this is a teapot! A musical one!
It was a birthday gift from my sweet Mama.
It sits on the old oak washstand that was my MIL, Miss Nellie's, as a child.
I use it in living room as a side table.
The gold framed piece is pictures of my Mama in her younger years.
The other photo is my sweet BFF in heaven, Brenda.
The runner is my Snowman Star .
Call it that as the star fabric I used is snowmen!;-)
Also a vintage Santa towel hanging on the towel bar.

Here below is my silver service set for tea or coffee.
Not a valuable set but I like how it looks set out.

Looks so pretty with these two pink rose tea cups on the tray.
Took this pic back in the Fall after we had polished the silverware.
I am like a magpie love shinny things.. haha!

Here it is now done up for Christmas.
These old 1980's Santa and Mrs Claus ornies and the other cuties are what we have used on our candy/cookie houses for years!
Just have not made one is a few years though!
Maybe next year. ;-)
I have cedar and more of my dried hydrangeas in the coffee pot.
All sits on an old chest in corner of dining room that I change the vintage table cloth out for the seasons.
I know I am showing what seems like a lot of decorations for someone who said she was not doing much this year!!
Truly this is very little compared to what I would normally do if I felt better!
I am liking the less is more though. ;-)

Please visit Kim at Shabby, Pink and Pretty for hers and other ladies sharing thier Tea Tuesday posts.

Simple Mantle

I just pulled things I had here and there for this one.
No going into storage and pulling bins.

The cedar is from one of our trees.
I can freshen it up as needed.
White lights under it lights it up with a soft glow.
The redbird art work stay up there all the time.
I did remove Aunt Alma's blue bird needlepoint to put up the snow folks window.
This was a gift to me from a very dear friend a couple years ago.
The lamps and old bottles also are there all the time.

The wool pears were made by a talented gal in Texas.
The stitchery is one I did.
Also more of those dried hydrangeas...:-)

These cards I am using are from a box of vintage ones I found
At local thrift. They are cut outs with ties on them.
So vintage pretty I think with some sparkle on them.

Love this one too.
May do up a tree one year with just these on it and white lights.
So for a wee bit of trouble we have a pretty mantle.

Birds of a feather...

...flock together...or hang out on my other small tree!
Yes I call this one The Bridie Tree...;-)

It is sitting on a antique desk at end of sofa.
This is another runner I made, a bit smaller then other one on sewing machine.

All different kinds of bird ornies on here.
The lil bird with pine cone in the nest was my Mama's .
DH finds the nests and brings them to me.
Mama also loved those ornie kits .
That is where the two tiny bird houses are from.
A cute glass red bird rest nearby as well.

I have 2 of the old vintage birds from Great Aunt Mary on here.
Feathered red bird on a nest and another glass pinkish bird with white feather tail!
I will say I have two of each bird just not showing them.

Here is red and gold glass bird with feather tail also.
Under there is a glass ornie of a bird on a nest.
More of my dried hydrangeas,
The cream icicles are pretty on here.
Had them a while.
So there ya go..my second tree!

Ye Olde Tree

This is one of two small trees we are using this year.
No big tree this year.
Just too much at this time.
So minimum decor here.
I keep these small ones decorated .
When ready to put away just pull up a bag over them, twist tie shut and put on shelf in closet.
Easy to set up that way.

I call this one my Vintage Tree.
It has very old ornies on it from my Great Granny Nora and Great Aunt Mary.

Here is the cute topper.
He likes his high perch I think.. see him smiling...;-)

This tree is full of these sweet lil elves .
Some on pine cones, some not.
Also old glass bulbs.

I added some of my dried hydrangeas this year.

It sits on DH's Granny's oak treadle sewing machine cabinet we use as side table.
Machine is not workable but still is a family treasure.

These blue ones are hand blown glass ones from Great Granny.

The ribbon and silver icicles (1980's ) are not old.

I made the table runner and the snowman stitchery.
It says... "Love was born on Christmas Morn".

Will show my other small tree in next post.
Hope you enjoyed this wee bit of holiday cheer from our home today!
