So it is Friday...

Been a long week for me.
Been in a sort of funk round here.
Why? Well could be for any of a 100 reasons.
Sometimes it happens even to us 'perky people'...;-)

Been HOT here!!!
Had to put AC back on.
Now they say tomorrow's high will only be 56.
Up and down the temps go.
I do want to get out and about to take pics of our Fall colors before they are gone.
Been cloudy and raining along with the heat.

Did put a just a wee bit of Fall stuff on porch.

This is the wreath on the set of double windows.

Here is Mr. Scarecrow. Poor pitiful thing!
He needs to retire to scarecrow heaven.
I had planned on a new one.
Only got as far as to steal a pair of DH's old jeans on that project.
Next year!

I really need to get motivated to do some stuff.
Will just 'blog around' a bit see if I get inspired!!!

Lola

I Believe

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born
A Death Certificate shows that we died
Pictures show that we lived!
Have a seat. Relax . . .
And read this slowly.

I Believe...
That just because two people argue,
It doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
It doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...
That we don't have to change friends if
We understand that friends change.

I Believe....
That no matter how good a friend is,
they're going to hurt you every once in a while
and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...
That true friendship continues to grow,
even over the longest distance.
Same goes for true love.

I Believe...
That you can do something in an instant
That will give you heartache for life.

I Believe....
That it's taken me a long time
To become the person I want to be.

I Believe...
That you should always leave loved ones with
Loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe....
That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe....
That we are responsible for what
We do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe...
That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...
That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs
to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe....
That my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.

I Believe....
That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down
will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe...
That sometimes when I'm angry
I have the right to be angry,
But that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe....
That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had
And what you've learned from them and less to do with how many
birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe....
That it isn't always enough,
to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...

That no matter how bad your heart is broken
the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe....
That our background and circumstances
may have influenced who we are,
But, we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...

That you shouldn't be so eager to find
Out a secret. It could change your life Forever.

I Believe....
Two people can look at the exact same
Thing and see something totally different.

I Believe...
That your life can be changed in a matter of
Hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...

That even when you think you have no more to give,
When a friend cries out to you -
you will find the strength to help.

I Believe...

That credentials on the wall
do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...

That the people you care about most in life
are taken from you too soon.

The happiest of people don't necessarily
have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything they have.

Still GO!ing Striping...

Punkin Blossom!

Okay this is last of the Fall 2 inch GO! Strip die projects!!
It is going to be a small candle mat.
Constructed same as Happy Jack in yesterday's post.
Instead of a face I did a pretty GO! Die Rose of Sharon blossom with leaves in bottom right corner.
I added a freehand drawn leaf at the stem.
Will add a dark brown binding.
This would also make a pretty block for a Fall quilt or runner.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing my Fall projects using the Go! Cutter dies I have used .

Next are the Christmas ones!!!
Well later as in next week !!
Busy from today on through Wed of next week!!

Today is Doc appt for Aunt Dot that will be a 3 hour or so one.
We plan to go to a lovely Fall Days event this weekend, Sat or Sunday not sure which.
Hope to remember to get some pics.

Then next week is my annual Doc appts and my mammogram!
I do hope all my blogging gal pals have had one this year!
Oct is Breast Cancer Month a good time to make an appt and go!

Happy Jack!

Meet Happy Jack!
He is really not all that scary.
Just have to decide what to do with him...stuff him, lay him, hang him or bag him!

He is also made with strips cut with the GO! Cutter 2 inch strip die.
Just like the Fall Blooms Runner yesterday!
By the way thanks so much for all your nice comments about the runner and my post!

Now back to Happy Jack.

Here is all his parts! Before assembly.

5- 2"x 10" strips pumpkin colors
4- 2" sqs back ground fabric mark diagnal sewing line on back with pencil
1- 2 " sq for stem
2- 2'x 3 1/2" back ground fabric
3- 2" sqs in black with heat n bond pressed on
Cut out nose and eyes as triangles.
1- 3"x 5" black fabric strip with heat n bond pressed on
draw the mouth and cut out
2- 2"x 7 3/4" strips back ground fabric
2-2"x 14 1/4" strips
2 buttons color of choice

Sew using 1/4 inch . Sew up the five 10" pumpkin body strips , trim, press.

Now add the 2 " sqs to each corner to make your pumpkin's curves, check to be sure they are angled right, sew on the pencil line, trim off extra. Press.

Next add the two 2"x3 1/5" strips to the 2" sq stem. Press.
Sew to top of pumpkin body.

Next sew one 2"x 7 3/4 strip to bottom and one to top. Press.
Now sew on the 2" x 14 1/4 " side strips.

Here I press it on to batting and add backing.
I quilted the pumpkin before I add the face using a variegated thread.

Now take the face parts and decide your design.
Press them down.
I used the button hole stitch in black.
You could do a zig zag or even do no heat n bond and just do the raw edge applique.
Add the buttons last.
If you make this as a trick or treat bag for a young child I would leave off the buttons!
Now you too are ready to decide his fate!!

If you have any questions just holler!!
Oh yeah if you make a Happy Jack..let me know!!!

Hugs,
Lola

My Blog & Sewing with my GO!!

MY BLOG is MY VOICE !

With my sharing of this horrid episode here in our world was not for adulation or for money.

Just in the hope that it will help another poor sweet soul somewhere… somehow.

Thank you all so much for thinking I am some kind of angel.

I am not. I have my moments just like the rest of you I am sure.

I also do not like to look at those sad and horrible pics on the help animals ads on TV or emails anymore than the next person.

Breaks my heart so bad I am no good for rest of day.

Same with the sweet innocent faces of starving and sick babes, children and others of this world.

We do donate to help others in many ways and to charity organizations.

We had to pay out of pocket 200 dollars for LizaJane’s care.

Vets, were 2, did not charge any office or such fees.

This was just for the blood work and the cremation fee only.

As with human medical cares, costs are high.

It was OUR CHOICE to go this route instead of calling County Animal Control.

We are not rich or even well off, just working class folks.

We are blessed to have a roof over our heads, food for our nourishment and clothes on our backs.

Can also enjoy a few extras.

When the ugly knocked on our door and hearts we had to answer the call.

I was not in this alone my sweet tenderhearted DH is my partner.

This was one of those “What would Jesus do?” moments or any decent human being for that matter!

You do not have to be a religious person to know right from wrong or be compassionate.

Selfishly we so wanted LizaJane to be our next miracle pup!

Pictured her healthy and loving, running around the house.

Broke my heart to lose that dream just as much as to see her poor starved 30 pound body go peacefully to sleep.

Thanks to my regular readers and followers for hanging in with me!

I am so looking for some sunshine in our life again!!

Now I promise to get back to my sewing and such!

Creating with fabric and thread feeds my soul , helps heal my heart an also keeps me sane!!

Here is one of my newest projects.

My Fall Blooms Runner!

Using my GO! Cutter with the GO! 2 inch strip die and the GO! Rose of Sharon die.

I used sixteen 2” X 10”strips of alternating fabrics, sewing them all together with a ¼ seam.

Pressed all the seams open. This helps when you have so many seams close and plan to quilt each one.

I sandwiched the top, batting and backing .

Quilted on each side of the seams using a pretty Fall color variegated thread.

Next used the Rose of Sharon GO! die cutting these out of fabric with Heat n Bond pressed on.

2 large flowers

3 medium flowers

4 large leaves

4 small leaves

3 medium circle centers

Decided on my placement and pressed them all down.

Next I buttonhole stitched the design through all the layers using black thread on top with the variegated thread in bobbin.

It is pretty on back to doing this.

It is a technique I learned from Pat Sloan.

Trimmed up my runner and using black 2 inch strips I made my binding, sewed it on.

Fast, easy and simple along with I think appealing!!!

If you do not have a Go! Cutter you could still make this using rotary cutter and free hand drawing or tracing your flower shapes.

I have two more ‘Fallish’ projects to share before I head on into Christmas ones.

Yes I said it..Christmas !! YIKES!!!

Time is running out fast on us… best we get busy!!!

Hugs,

Lola

PS.
No idea why the above post came out double spaced this time!!!!
