Snow Folk Place Mats

Here is my winter place mats. I just washed them and need to iron them so using these pics I took when I made them. Not real hard to do.

Just sew a border fabric around a pretty themed fabric rectangle for both sides, then add a thin batting as in W&N and sew on all sides leaving a place to turn them.
I pressed and stitched about a 1/4 inch around the outside.
You could even quilt them but I didn't.
You can use one side then turn over to other side.
Can make up using the odd left over quilt squares or just themed fabric for all the special holidays.
This same idea would work for a runner or pillow covers as well.

Easy quick sewing, also a neat gift idea.

  1. Good idea and I can never have enough placemats as hubby is sloppy when he eats. I often think I should plop a plastic placemat in front of him just before he sits down at the table, so the fabric ones stay clean longer!!!

  2. They look great and I just love the fabrics you have used. Another idea idea for my Christmas 2009 file. Thanks!

    Happy Stitching...Ann :)

  3. Very cute, quick idea. My guild made placemats for Meals on Wheels in December and those would be so fun to make.
